Barton Creek Greenbelt Trails Map

Welcome to RouteMapper, a brand new concept in route tracking!

Targeted at the Adventure Racing crowd, this new service brings an unprecedented level of visibility into yours and other teams' race route selections.

How does it work?

If your race director has signed up your race to be "RouteMapped", each team will be loaned a device which records your exact whereabouts for the entire duration of the race.  After the race is completed, these devices are sent in, the data is extracted and processed, and a unique-per-race map is drawn up showing your and all other teams' routes.  All checkpoints and their associated clues are marked.  Time markers in durations of 1/2 hour (1 hour for longer races) are shown as well.  Your exact distance traveled (down to the nearest .01 meter) is available at each time marker.

You can see your route only, yours and any other team or teams, or all teams' routes.

The format of the maps that the routes are shown on is selectable as well, with street map, satellite view, hybrid view and topo map options.

What if the race director hasn't signed up for my upcoming race to be RouteMapped?

You can still rent the tracking device from RouteMapper, and get all of the benefits listed above.  However, unless other teams at the same race also rent the RouteMapper device, only your route and the checkpoints will be shown.

Sound good?!  Click below to see some examples from a couple of my training outings:

Here's a picture of the GPS device - note how small it is!
